I have always LOVED her audition, the look on Simon's face is priceless. It goes to show that you truly cannot judge a book by it's cover.

When she opened her mouth to sing and her voice filled the room AMAZING!!

It is the message of the proverbial "Ugly Duckling". The idea of gathering the courage at age 47 to audition, to risk failure to make a change that I touted in this article that is essentially the message. It is not the genre I am accustomed to either. I was simply asking my admins & Good Neighbors to listen to the story behind the music. That is why I asked for a choice bec there is a built -in narrative in each link that talks about Boyle's life, her dedication to caring for her parents and a strong faith in God.

I like stories of courage especially that inspires hope and encourages people to take risks and make changes in their lives. They inspired me & gave me the courage to try harder literally each "step" of the way. As I worked my way out of a wheel chair amid cries that I was over doing it. I listened to stories like this & pushed even harder.

I believe we each have to make our own way but first we must take that first step. And if listening to how others do it is what works. Then I will continue to present stories & even music that is "not my cuppa" as lil Bro BobCJ would say to help others to step out on their own.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Susan Boyle, her style of music just isn't my bag, though I do consider her rendition for Wild Horses to be quite haunting and pretty. That said, of the above clips, I prefer the Elaine Paigge duet - actually though, really I prefer when Susan Boyle did the same song with British comedian Peter Kay, who was dressed as his reality show winning alter ego, Geraldine McQueen. Their duet version was for Red Nose Day (Comic Relief) last year. The video's great - pay attention to Susan's hair!

I really enjoyed the audition.

NDY - his name is Peter Kay, just fyi...but you could also credit it as Geraldine McQueen since that's who he is portraying in the clip. The video is funny but the interesting thing is that they played the song on BBC Radio 2 and you'd totally buy it as a straight up version of the song too and not just a parody. Good job on them both for that.
