Yes we all have to vote...but...even the most educated of all voters will likely acknowledge they vote for the lesser of two evils more than they vote based on believing a candidate is going to get the job done. And we all know that because there are so many people in Congress that it takes more than just who you vote for, but who everyone votes in from everywhere else, to actually be able to find a way to work together to get something done. It seems we can no longer find viable candidates who want to get actual work done to vote for anymore which is why we have so many politicians who bicker and blame the folks on the other side for not coming into the middle when neither side realizes that the middle doesn't mean caving in to one side's demands but in actual compromising. All they do is point fingers in Washington, all the while more and more citizens are living in conditions we try to resolve in other countries (but seem to largely ignore here). The media makes a mockery of the Occupy Wall Street protestors until people start getting hurt and then make them look like criminals. Those folks are peacful compared to what could be happening...and likley will be happening if things get any worse. We've largely become a country of people who sit on our hands laying in wait for government to come to their senses and bail us out while we complain until they do, but at some point, people will get tired of waiting and tired of living in squalor and there will be a revolution. With any luck, I will be able to slip swiftly into Canada if that should occur...

I listened to the song and I spent some time trying to find a place to volunteer at...it's something I'll have to continue to do tomorrow. I've always had the greatest respect for people who volunteer their time.

Politics and religion...two touchy subjects. I'll leave them alone now. I've probably revealed already which side I"m on...I can't help it....I've got a big mouth. But right now I have stuff to learn about book clubs...online book clubs. So I'm off to read.

Maybe we need to START an email campaign to the editors of the media & threaten a boycott of their publications if they don't stop "coloring the news" against the protesters without seriously investigating ( & PUBLISHING ) the credibility of the impetus / reason for the protests !!

First let me say that I'm OK now... after six minutes of country western I had to grab some acid rock to calm back down... I dont think my psche is damaged... just a shock to the old nervous system.

My opinion... I just cant chance telling you how I really feel about our Commander in Chief, Congress, and Senate... I will say that for the most part they are greedy and self serving, the exact kind we never should have allowed in office. The kind we should tar and feather and run out of Washington in disgrace. That said, lets put the blame squarely where it needs to be, on us... We The People have enjoyed our vacation. We slept as the folks we elected stole more and more power. We should have caught on when they started passing laws while exempting them selves from the burden they would have us carry. We should have caught on when they voted themselves raises and benefits beyond our wildest dreams. We should have... but we just couldnt be bothered.
Years ago I was sent to a management training course, the one great lesson they taught us.... keep the employees fighting among them selves, that way they wont fight us. Republicans hate the poor, Democrats buy votes... sound familiar? Republicans good... Democrats bad. Democrats good, Republicans bad... How stupid are we! Several thousand years ago Caesar said ... DIVIDE AND CONQUER. What has changed... cling to party politics and we get exactly what we deserve. Every thing we see wrong could be corrected simply by abandoning party and vote for the best candidate, and vote out the bad ones. Yes that means following politics, means checking their VOTING RECORD not the sound bites on the slanted news.... and I know you wont do it. The TV calls, the beer is cold,... and politics is so boring... maybe tomorrow....maybe

People, (love your avatar) and you are dead on, it's the People, that make this country what it is. Where we differ I think, is I see the percentage of folks that thhink like us, dwindling. When we get to 50/50, we lose our ability to survive. I don't intend to let that happen. The takers will out number the providers and that, my friends, is a recipe for disaster. So, when the time comes, and it sure looks like it'll be sooner rather than later, be prepared. Have food, a means of power, and enough ammo to hang onto it all in the face of lawlessness.

Try reading William W. Johnstone's "Home Invasion". I'm only just starting it, but so far, it really hits home.
I also believe that there is no such thing as an honest politician. We have to change that. We need "Solution Providers" in the gov't. Business people like Cain and Trump, might be corrupt too, but they at least know how to run a business. The Fannie and Freddy folks just know how to run a business INTO THE GROUND. And who benefited from it, Dodd, Pelosi, Obama, and Reid. Imagine that. Conservatives can be as corrupt as liberals, but at least they make a profit, not just suck the cow dry, or butcher the Golden Goose. They [seem to] be willing to live of the interest, not just see who can deplete the principle the quickest. OK, Putting the soap box away for a while.....
