Maybe wag was pointing out that sometimes we "see" what we want to see in certain situations. I know that I have to really clear my mind when I am in places that have historical events in order to focus on the event I am in and not get carried away by my "imagination."

The Irish in my family call it "fey" this ability to experience things that are on another plane of existence. Deju vu was very frightening for me. I had my first experience that I can recall when i was in the 2nd grade. I couldn't talk to anyone about it for years.

Morning Guys... I think the teacher made his point that we feel what we expect to feel. Pavolov's dog's mouth watered in anticipation, not because he believed he saw food. The students in question actually felt the shock if only in their mind. Its not really the same thing.
Have you ever been driving your car, stopped at a stop sign, looked both ways... and almost pulled out in front of a motorcycle? Those that have almost always are surprised the bike was right there... but they didnt see it. They were looking for a car... Every one isnt always affected the same way... but I have watched ghost hunting shows where every small noise becomes a paranormal experience. Like wise the orbs so often photopraphed often are dust particles. Now if the orb stops, or makes sudden turns, or does something unique, maybe it is something paranormal. A good investigator works hard to keep feelings out of an investigation and centers only on evidence that they can not find a logical explination for.

I find those ghost hunting shows to be a lot of hogwash. They're purposely trying to make like something is always there because if they don't react the way they do then no one would bother to watch those shows. How often do they actually say "we were there all night and nothing happened - sorry it's not haunted," probably next to never. If anything, they will at least say we can't proove or disprove the claim but there's a possibilty it's true. Most of the people on those shows are there because they will react to being scared just by the notion that a sound or whatever might be a ghost. They never come up with concrete proof, do they?! But I doubt that anyone really watches them in hopes they will actually proove or disprove the existence of ghosts - they watch to get scared by the prospect of a ghost, just like the people on it.

Morning Tess... Honestly I wasnt part of the experiment... just another observer. The point of the experiments was to show us that feelings can be and some times are very unreliable. I would assume that If they reacted in anticipation of a shock after touching the pins once or twice they would soon realize that they were not feeling a shock, But that wasnt the case... they kept touching the pins and saying ouch. All I can say is that after those two experiments he had me convinced he was right... Many years later I moved to New Mexico and my oldest son took a job in the youth detention center. After a few weeks training he was put on night turn where he saw other employees carrying cameras to try and photograph the ghost. The talk was that the detention center had been a prison in the past and several prisoners had committed suicide. My son (as I was at that time) was not a believer in feelings. He came home one morning looking visably shaken and asked if we could talk. He told me that when he was making his rounds he entered the kitchen area, it was dark and he was alone. He said Dad, I had this horrible feeling that some one hated me and if I didnt leave immediately I would get hurt. I said what did you do... he said I had to leave. We talked some more and he said that this feeling was so real to him that he just knew something was going to happen. I also had something happen to me... so I am not saying that some one cant feel things, but I am saying that I just cant rely on feelings, especially since I have seen that some folks just are not reliable... Hope you can understand.

I tend to think ghosts are figments of our mind's imagination no more no less.

Hey Boomer... Most folks do unless something happens they just cant explain or they grow up in a house where things happen or things are seen. But to me (aside from my personal experiences) I think too many people have seen too many things for every one to be crazy or confused. No one wants to tell a skeptic what they saw or heard..... But if your respectful, and honestly ask your family and friends.... I would bet dollars against dough nuts some one close to you has had an experience.

A woman my mother works with just lost her father to cancer. About a week ago she had been talking to him and he acknowledged that he was preparing to go and she asked one thingof him...that if there was any way he could contact her from beyond just to give her some sort of sign he's ok wherever it is he's off to and he said he would try. He then asked her if she keeps her cell phone on and she said yeah and then asked about other family members and their phones...Well, he passed away the other day and from what I heard that morning his wife woke him and he hugged her and he was laboring a bit and she said to him you can let go now and he did...well, apparently his daughter was driving with her husband in the evening with a couple other people following along behind heading to the house and passed the street where she grew up and suddenly she smelled a very distinct odor of oil (her father was an oil serviceman for years and she said when she was young they always knew when he was home because you could smell the oil) - no one else noticed the smell but her and her husband though. Then this morning while she was in the shower, her cell phone went off one time and there was no id on the caller.

Now, if you're a cynic you just see it as a grieving woman hoping she's getting some sign from her father because she's looking for comfort through her sadness of losing him...if you're a believer though, you'd say her dad was reaching out to tell her he was home and he was ok. Sure an oil smell and one cell phone ring does not equate to solid life after death proof, but I don't see the harm in believing if it comforts the loved ones left behind to think those are signs of anything.

The indents on my bedspread are forever changing positions but it is a comforting thing not a scary one for me It is reassuring tro smell the fragrance of sweet rotten oranges. I feel like all is right in the world as when I don't - I feel as though something is missing & it is!!

My mom attended the wake today for her coworker's father. She told me that her coworker's mom said the next morning when she woke up she smelled oil (just as her daughter had the day before) but only in the bedroom - mind you her daughter never told her about the oil smell from the day before so it's not like it was in her mind or anything...anyway, she smelled the oil smell when she woke up and she felt very comforted by it because she did immediately think it was her husband's way of connecting with her. Like I said yesterday, maybe it's not proof of life after death or anything, but it's still compelling circumstantial evidence.

BOOMER- I hope YOUR imagination goes sailing through your kitchen as a pale gray transparency did once in mine... It SURE will make a believer out of YOU then..!!..

I would like to share a story,some years ago I was a volunteer with the elderly.one chap I used to visit,
I tried hard to support Him in various ways.I used to jokingly say to Him when I was leaving don,t you dare go to Heaven without telling me,time and the yeasrs passed.I continued to visit and support the old gentleman,He shared many stories with me.
then one morning I got a phone call from my line manager telliong me He had gone.I said to hospital?
The manager said no.Hes died. sadly over the weekend the poor guy had fallen against the gas fire and got burned.I had to deal with the solicitor,funeral arrangements etc.
The funeral was at the local cemetary.the priests was saying prayers and people had gathered around the grave.Suddenly I saw Him I wanted to say to His relatives Hes not down there He is behind you!!
at that moment He was more real than the people around the grave.then He was gone,
I was happy I felt He kept His promise. He was taking instruction to become a Catholic when He died.

ANY speculation on WHY & WHERE my spirit IS when I am not aware of its presence? When it is here - I am acutely aware of its fragrance or can see its impressions on top of my bed ... And a general feeling of joy comes over me...

I am not the only one to have witnessed the phenomena of the changing impressions on the bed top or others who have seen shadows moving in the apartment...or have also smelled the fragrance.
