Worse. They're too dependent on technology.

I've never before had a negative outlook, but I am now beginning to wonder HOW things are going to be any better for our grandchildren. I worry because we don't make anything here any more. Where are the jobs going to come from? Most of the jobs available are service jobs, like restaurants and retail sales. How are they even going to stay afloat when people have no money to eat out and buy things? Where will the money come from to support their families? I have no answers only questions, but I know I wouldn't want to be young again and try to raise a family in these economic times.

I have nine grandchildren and I often worry what their future will be like. Our world is not doing well and for a country that seems to be filled with so many Christians I can not remember a time in my life when there was so much hatred shown to people who do not fit into society's norm. Our world is in a mess and instead of thinking of ways to fix it...everyone is pointing a finger at who they think is to blame. Our politicians and the people who advertise for them are the worse it seems....and too many of us close our minds and blindly believe the nonsense they spew.

I won't pretend to have answers to how we fix things...but it could start by being good neighbors and caring about our communities. I agree that we need to start making things here again. Greed is at the root of our problems and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I believe that technology IS our future - our responsible future. I have said in earlier Threads / Posts/ Replys that I feel it is OUR duty to make certain that our children and young adults receive the best education & second-chance educations possible. Our criteria for national standards need to be revised to match of other more superior counties - YES - I said superior as other countries are surpassing us in the area of education.

Now is NOT a time to cut education but to make it a well-oiled & efficient machine that serves all avenues in technology, hospitality,health-care ,manufacturing and other areas that are affected by today's demands.. It is not enough to to educate our 18 yr old's but even more important to re-educate adults who are returning to the classroom to become better prepared who were not properly trained to begin with.

America has been caught sleeping while other nations have moved ahead. We need to be willing to move AHEAD of them, not WITH them, and definitely not BEHIND them !!!

Oh - And I have 12 3/4's grandchildren if it counts for anything! Hopefully 13 as of Jan 12th! (That will make 10 girls & 2 + 1= 3 / boys !! )
