I love reading and I do watch movies that came from the books that I read.

Not many movies made from the books I read. Didn't see Jaws the movie after seeing the trailer because the actors didn't look like the characters as i imagined them in the book.

Sometimes the movies leave big chunks of the book out. Which is not good.

In most cases the book is better...easier to give details there than in movies. On a few occasions I have liked the movie more...Cujo comes to mind...the movie has a better ending....I have to say I liked Jaws the movie better than the book...there again a better ending and Brody's wife did not have an affair in the movie. I was young then and affairs troubled me. When I knew I was going to my daughter's house and that I'd be watching Twilight with my granddaughter I went out and bought the books and read them all so I'd have an idea of what I was in store for. I liked both the books and the movies.

Movies are like Cliffs notes but not as though... They often skip things important to the plot... pass the book please.

I do agree with you in some ways wag952 but if I know that there is a movie out or program of the book I have read. I like to watch it see what it is like if they have kept to the book or not. Also I have watched a movie and then been told about the book. So in a way movies have helped me read a book I did not know existed.

sometimes, but if i intend to watch the movie and read the book i see the movie first. i find i enjoy both more that way, otherwise i often find the movie disappointing.

I have watched the movies king speech and the other bolyen girl. I have the two books in my bookcase. I should really read them and see how they compare to the movie

I will read the book then watch the movie then think HEY they took out stuff changed it! OR will think it is perfect-the cast, the script reflects almost word for word of the book.

OR I will watch movie first, then read book, and learn so much more about the story.

I read Stephen King's THE SHINING, went to see movie, I shouted HEY many times, that was not in the book, people around me said shhhhh

I will read that many authors are angry at how much the script was changed, will distance themselves from the movie.
THE SHINING was OK but it deleted many parts, added some that were not in book.

Have heard that Stephen has been upset how some of his books are made into movies.

I did like the TV version of his book THE STAND-awesome book!

The TV movie came pretty close, considering how long the book was.

ALSO The Movie with Tommy Lee Jones of THE EXECUTIONER'S SONG about Utah's Gary Gilmore's case, came pretty close too, the casting was perfect! Tommy Lee Jones

I did read Jaws, and I did think the cast in the movie was good

That movie scared me so bad! I had dreams of jaws coming after me, and I did not live anywhere near an ocean!
