Moral Obligation i don't think so.Myself people that no me no i am pretty much the same everyday. what you see is what i am. unless i am sick.

I feel we have no moral obligatoin to fake happiness, but we can't take out our misery on others, either. The less I worry about "seeming" happy when I'm not, the sooner I usually cheer up anyway!

I feel an obligation to my grand children to be happy for them, that is the memory I would like them to have of me. So for them and with them I will show happiness! others I do not feel the need to put an act on for!

I don't think we have an obligation to act happy but we should be respectful of others enough to not take out our unhappiness on people. It's better to be true to yourself than to lie and pretend you are happy but if you are unhappy you don't have to be mean about it to get it across to others that you are not happy.

no. i believe we have a moral obligation to do the opposite, to be honest about how we feel but with a couple of caveats - we need to be sensitive to our circumstances. for example if i've suffered a personal loss i should not wear that on my sleeve at work, and allow patients to see it. i should be a professional. however i shouldn't stuff my feelings with colleagues and co-workers.

also, if we're just feeling crappy and putting on a happy face will help us overcome it then it's a good investment. but as a regular practice i am 100% against people acting happy when in reality they are not. it's dishonest and harmful.

I can feel any way I want, but if my attitude does my family or friends harm then its time to reconsider my attitude. Just because you can... doesnt mean that you should. Some days we just cant be cheery... but if its a choice why not choose a positive attitude?

I don't feel the obligation to be happy, but I do feel the obligation to be pleasant. I can "spit nails" as they say on Monday mornings when I come in. I can be a very unhappy creature.
