Hi all, Happy new year first off :) I hope this year brings you all good health!
I tried writing this yesterday, I stopped because I thought I was being silly. But I need to write this as I am having increasing issues with my ovaries and I cannot make sense of it.
I am a 20 year old female with endometriosis (which I suffered with from the age of 9 when I started me period) and a list of other autoimmune diseases including a problem where my body doesn't react well to infections it can't produce enough white blood cells so I am normally sick for along time or in hospital if its bad. My family is riddled with cancer, my nan, aunt pop died of a form of cancer, my other nan had cancer but this did not contribute to her death, my cousin has had breast cancer and my mum has had both bad bowel polyps which almost cut off her bowel completely and cervical cancer cells which involved her needing surgery. You could say we're an extremely sick family.
I've hd 2 surgeries in 2010 for endometriosis, and I am set for my 3rd on Jan 20th, 3 in the span of 1 year. But since my last surgery my ovaries have been going haywire on top of my usual agonising pain. I've stopped ovulating according to OPK's so my doctor is looking into this. I'm bloated alot of the time, I'm in agony from my ovaries, I'm getting hot flashes and back pain so badly too, my family doctor thinks it could be endo affecting my nerves but I'm not sure, the backs of my legs ache and I am feeling so tired all the time. I know it could be many things I'm not jumping to OC conclusion and I know I'll find out on the 20th... but I just wondered if any of this rings a bell to you ladies? I truely think maybe Its endo affecting my ovaries but who knows...I just thought I'd ask, thanks and I know I'm probably being silly, I just thought I'd go out on a limb and ask.

Thanks for your thoughts and support, I'm sure it's not OC I'm just been going through this since July with my ovaries increasingly worse I just don't know what it could be, seeing every corner. Thankyou. I'll keep you posted I promise :)
I'm also sorry you have to go through this so young! I thought I was young for it... Like Janet said, Ovca is rare and all of its symptoms can be for so many other things. That's why it's usually diagnosed at a later stage unfortunately. I'm very happy that you're going in for surgery. I had endo too and I know that scans don't always show what that stuff is doing and they need to go in for a look to be sure.
You do need to talk to your surgeon about your thoughts on ovca. I don't want to scare you, but those symptoms are what I had and endo increases your risk. My pathology report showed that endo was the cause.
I went in for surgery to remove a supposedly benign mass from my ovary. I only signed consent for that, as I still wanted children and was about to get married. My gyno ended up having to call my current gyno onc in to finish the surgery and because I was not counselled on the potential of ovca, I had to go in for another surgery the very next day! They couldn't do what they needed to do the first time because I hadn't signed consent. Let me tell you, hearing such awful news while coming out of anesthesia and then being told you have to have another surgery the very next day was not fun. I wouldn't wish that on anyone and that's why I'm telling you to please make sure you have your bases covered before surgery. Even though it's most likely endo, which is certainly bad enough, you should make sure you tell them your back up plan for ovca to prevent a 2nd surgery like I had to have.
