I discussed the tibalone that I took, prior to my recurrence, with Martin Gore at the Marsden hospital.. My cancer has since been discovered to be hormone sensitive.. If this had been tested during my initial diagnosis I would not have been given prescribed HRT.. Without this knowledge my GP treated me for menopause symptoms as he saw best..

I didn't know about the hormone receptor test and believe all tumours should be tested before any HRT is given.. I've not heard of Prempro though... xxxxxx

Prempro is a combination of Premarin and Provara. It had just gone on the market when I started taking it. They put it out there before it was properly tested. They started doing a 5 year study on it but had to discontue because too many women were getting sick. Hear attacks and different types of cancer, mostly breast but oc also. I think it is still on the market in a lower dosage. I stopped taking it as soon as this news came out in '02. There is a class action suit going on. I think in order to be included in it, your doctor has to agree that this was the cause and you would have had to be tested at the time of diagnosis.

did you know that premarin stands for pregnant mares urine.. As soon as I heard that I refused to take it and have heard disturbing stories as to how it is harvested.. Anitaama.. I really hope you have a case here if there has been any negligence in the marketing of Prepro then the people responsible should compensate those whose lives they have damaged.. I did sign up on a web site for the class action suit, but I got the impression from the questions it asked that your doctor would have to agree that it was the Prempro and a test should have been given at the time of diagnosis. When I was first diagnosed I asked her if it could have been the Prempro, she emphatically said no. I think the doctors and the drug companies are in cahoots. At the time I just took her work for it and did not explore it any further. But in my heart of hearts I cannot help but think it was the Prempro.

they will have samples of your original tumour in the labs and you could ask if it could be tested.. Do you have a legal aid system, or is it as bad as your health service.. If you do they might consider it worth paying for this test to be done now.. as it could hold the proof you need.. no matter when it ocured.. xxx

I also took Prempro, and have had breast and ovarian cancer-I am sure it was related. I also took progesterone supplements for several years to combat the effects of PMS-it saved me from suicide then, but I am probably reraping the side effects now. I also looked into a class action suit, but the lawyer would not guarantee me a pecentage of the settlement-I had to absorb all the costs of depositions, etc., first, so maqke sure you read the fine print on these things.
