The chances are hugely in favour of this being a simple cyst, as Ovarian Cancer is extremely rare. The symptoms for OC are the same as for lots of other conditions. There is a CA125 blood test that can be done, but this isn't reliable on it's own. Surgery is the only foolproof way of establishing exactly what this is.

We have to take these things one day at a time and try not to let our imaginations carry us away. There is nothing to be understood until after the surgery.. so take a deep breath and try to relax all that you can. Distract yourself and your sister with better things than worry ing about what you don't know.. she needs to be rested and strong for the surgery and the recovery from this. Hopefully that will be all that is required..

Is there a family history of Ovarian Cancer?

As Halli said OC is rare. It may be either a cyst, or a fibroid.

I'll just add a comment. It is very likely not ovarian cancer, but a huge cyst of some type. In any case, the most common and worst type of advanced ovarian cancer is typically not one large tumor but areas of tumor all over the insides of the abdomen. Even this (which is what I have) can be treated and women do well. Best wishes, Janet

Ok its Sunday and I need to stop using the internet as all I am reading just getting more scary,I have told her she needs to be in hospital I know she is going tommorow but now I am worried it will burst as its so huge,I just wish she would go she is in a lot of pain and signed herself out on Friday,would they let her out if it was really bad?I do realise I should be on the family and friends but with my ocd and bipolar I am going potty,it just seems so large,they told her at the hospital that it is the size of twins at nine months,why is she out?She is really stubborn of cause otherwise it would not have got to this,xx

I had a tumour the size of a foot ball.. a rupture is a possibility, but unlikely... She needs to be resting now and to breeze as gently and gracefully as possible into the hospital tomorrow..

We have all learned not to read too much into what's on the web here.. Most of it is impossible to understand and when you are anxious the negative bits stand out larger than fact and the positives don't make such an impact. In your case, until you know exactly what this is, there is nothing to learn about it.

So please.. do your best to distract yourself and to relax, to help you to be strong for your sister tomorrow. Silly things help.. like a hot bath.. favourite treats and watching something funny on the tv... whatever it takes to keep your mind off the worst case scenarios.. Our imaginations are so much worse than the reality. even if it were to be a cancer.. which is extremely unlikely.. please remember that.

By tomorrow evening you will know so much more than you do now.. We will all be hoping and wishing for the very best result from all of this and that by the end of the day you will be feeling huge relief..

How is your sister? How did the surgery go?

Thanking all in this group for all your support she had surgery yesterday,after signing away everything in stage 111,it went really well they have removed the mass cyst,it weighed 1 stone seven pounds,12 litres of fluid,they took away one of her overies and two other cysts on the other side,they have sent all off for testing but at this moment in time all looks good,I hope this will help others in the same situation,that are worrying,all my love mistymoomar x

Well all was good,they removed the mass,but have called her back for a full removal of all organs being cancer I am so strong at this point cause needs meet must xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi all I do really appreciate your words of advice sometimes I do go off the rails and start getting so annoyed and angry so sorry if I have upset anyone,well she is going back into surgery in the next possible time they have a slot,might be a couple of weeks,she is having a full hystoretomy or however you spell it, appendix,nymph glands,and all other organs that might be effected thanking all on this site you have been wonderfull,and have giving me strength xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
