I had my right ovary and tube removed and a huge mass taken off of them. I can't seem to have a bowel movement after being released from the hospital. They released me once I passed gas, but I haven't pooped! How do I have one? I've passed gas several times and have been taking my stool softeners along with my narcotic pain meds (which I know cause constipation), but my gyno said I need to have a bowel movement! I've tried hot tea, syrup (makes me have bowel movement when I DIDNT have surgery), fiber bars, etc. Do I just wait and hope my bowels wake up soon? I mean, I'm passing gas. So I know at least THAT part is awake.

Sounds like you are doing all that you should be. How long since your op? That is important to consider. So long as your doctor isn't concerned then probably it will right itself in good time. A vegetarian diet.. with lots of fresh fruit and veg + lots of liquids could help. I would keep the doctor informed and ask how long you should alow this to go on for. He should be able to reassure you that there is nothing to worry about.

4 days now since op. I had a SMALL bowel movement last night. So that was a tiny victory. Still waiting for the big one. It was a mite uncomfortable when my bowels moved, and I fear the big one.

That's the biggest problem post op! It's so sad when the highlight of your day becomes if you've pooped. Drink as much water as possible and lots of fiber rich veggies like Inka said. I had good luck with flax seed sprinkled on my oatmeal. Also, if you can take little walks - any movement will help get things rolling down there. Good luck!
