Here's a couple of ideas. There should be a social worker at the hospital where you were treated. That person would be a resource for you. Also, this may not be an option for you but when ovarian cancer is deemed incurable then one can get social security disability. Ovarian cancer is one of the compassionate disability diseases where SSD is fast--tracked. I retired eight months before I reached full retirement age and was able to get disability before going on retirement. The social security office helped me with the paperwork. If you are on disability, in two years you become eligible for Medicare even though one is younger than 65.
Again, I would start with the hospital's social worker. This person should know what state services might help. Good luck, Janet
