i just got home from my surgery. 15 days in the hospital, and still not much for a plan, or answers.
follow-up with obgyn-oncol is dec 4th. , when i ask whats next, all i get is "the pathology isnt back yet"
they tell me it was a huge surgery, and im still in pretty bad shape, but i feel just as lost s i did when i went in.

Well, let's just hope you get good news. My cancer was staged IIIC. They knew it was cancer during surgery because they got an intra-operative pathology report. It was so apparent that I had cancer. If it's taking longer to get the pathology, maybe cancer is not obvious and they are checking carefully to see whether or not cancer cells are present. Incidentally, I was in ICU for 19 days after my surgery. Hopefully, you will get answers soon. Best wishes, Janet

It's awful not having a plan, because you just want to get on with treatment and know what your dealing with. Like Janet says they might be undecided about your pathology, which is good news because if you have cancer it's probabley early days. I had to wait 3 months before they did my surgery with chemo thrown in. They didn't know if the primary was breast related or ovarian until surgery, because I had a history of breast cancer, so I had to wait 3 weeks after surgery to find out it was ovarian primary. I really hope that everything will turn out for the best you must have had a rough time in hospital, try and focus on your hospital recovery. Please keep us informed, we are always here to help. Carol hugs.

thank you all for the comments. i am so discouraged. it really helps a lot to know others have had a similar experience. i thought i would go for surgery and things would be explained to me, and i might have a clue... but that was not the case .

It does seem that they should know by now! I am still waiting for patho results too but my gyne-onc thinks it was endometriomas but there is a kind of cancer in endometriomas but it is more rare, I hate the wait. Like you I thought I would have clear answers by now too. I hope you get good answers! They will likely have the results before the 4th and hopefully will not make you wait til the 4th if they are not good.
