Hi, Jaimelc : ) First off, I am not a doctor but do advise you to go to the Cardiologist. When I was about 6, I was diagnosed with a "Heart Murmur" and my parents were told that it would most likely go away when I got older. We thought little of it and I had a great childhood, playing all the sports I could and was very active with no issues. Into my adult life, most doctors didn't even notice it unless I mentioned it. When I turned 43, I was in pre-op for spine surgery when they ran a precautionary EKG which showed a few red flags. I was referred to a Cardiologist for clearance and found out that the "murmur" which I had been living with my whole life was actually Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Specifically, Septal Hypertrophy. Never had any symptoms until about five years later when I needed heart surgery.

I obviously don't mean to scare you with my own horror story, but feel it best to have the Cardiologist see him and run some tests (ultrasound, echo, etc...). My lack of a more accurate diagnosis as a child was due largely to the lack of imaging/technology that we have today. I got lucky. Hopefully, it's relatively benign for the little guy and we pray that it will be, but the experts can tell you more.

I too am not a doctor, but, dohave experience with my dauighter, who was born with a heart murmur the doctor expected it to go away on its own, but, when she got admitted to hospital at age 3 months with suspected meningitus which she didnt have. but when they checked her over they said it was so loud there had to be a problem, she was diagnosed with dilated cardiac myopathy, Most murmurs are innocent and no problems are found, but, unfortunately occasionally there is a cardiac condition. Make sure you go to your appointment when it comes.
