There are many diseases and disorders that may affect the eyes, such as Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Cataracts, Optic Atrophy, Optic Nerve Hyoplasia, Retinitis Pigmentosa, and Retinal detachment.
Has anyone had Scliritis which is inflammation of the white of the eye.
It looks like a blood shot eye but mine is on the outer side of the white.
Also is achy and sometimes weepy.
I went to the Ophthalmologist and he thinks that is what I have. He wasn't able to dilate the eye at the appointment to be absolutely positive, because I was driving and it was very sunny and the roads were bad with blowing snow, so not a good mix.\
Anyway, he is pretty sure and prescribed indomethacin 25mg. for the pain and inflammation. Since it's hard on the stomach he also prescribed Ranitodine to counteract the acid.
The pharmacist said that it's a low dose so should not cause any problems.
I started taking them at each meal and it made me too drowsy, so I am spacing them with a snack so my stomach will be okay. So far so good.\
Anyway, the specialist said that the meds are just a cover up and he is also sending a letter to my family doctor to possibly get some blood testing done.
So in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone has experienced Scliritis and how it was treated.
. A couple of years ago I had Iritis which is inflammation of the iris which is more serious. Iritis is light sensitive, painful and weepy and if you don't get drops, it can be very, very painful .
I was thankful it didn't come back because it took 6 weeks of drops and one of the drops dilated the eyes and I could not drive..........

I had a test about a year ago for this and it was negative. The doctor just wants to rule out things.
