Osteoporosis is a disease of bone in which bone mineral density is reduced, bone microarchitecture is disrupted, and the amount and variety of non-collagenous proteins in bone is changed. Osteoporosis is not painful until you suffer the broken bones as a result of it. I would imagine that it would be extremely unusual for anyone aged 19 to be suffering from osteoporosis - unless of course you have been taking steroid medication for some time. I was not diagnosed until after 3 spinal fractures, 1 broken rib and a fractured hip and pelvis. I did not fall - I only coughed. Anybody over the age of 40 will have a degree of osteoarthritis in almost every joint in the body. It is just a natural wearing away of the joints. And that can be very painful. Seeing that you have been diagnosed with endometriosis, I would suggest seeing your doctor again and tell him/her of the pain in your hips and insist on having it investigated further.
I hope this is helpful. Cheers, Min
I was told by my old GP that it cannot cause me pain especially at my age, just to build up my calcium levels?
I was on the Depo Provera for 3 years and it was after 3 years she took the bone density scan.
Currently it's not giving my grief but it can and oh my it hurts!
I am currently more concerened about my endo! and if in the future my hips give me terrible trouble I'll look into it further.
Im a dairy addict most of the time so hopefully I've built my bones up abit =)
Thanks for all your help! =)
All the best for you all
My husband broke 4 of my ribs about 12 years ago when he hugged me to tight. These are the only times that I've suffered any pain from my osteo. It's true, you don't have pain until you break something.
