My teen has been doing a lot better for about one month.This is because there is something he wants from his parents, so he behaves . While he is not perfect , he gets along better with family members and respects basic rules, stopped cussing, doing ok at school,and he even is enjoyable to have around. Again, this is because he wants something from his parents and we agreed to look into. I want to think he has sincerely changed and is sorry about everything he did. However, I know it is not true. Basically I gave in to something that posibly might help him but it is a gamble! Things have been real bad with him for about 3 years and if I don't take another approach, perhaps a more liberal approach I know he will end up in a psychiatric place and it will not help him.Even worse , he could end up trouble with the law.
Now as I said he has been a lot better.However,he just scamed me in a small way to get cash from me. I am pretty sure he bought marijauna with the money. I comfronted him in a passive way because I can not change him and I am tired of scandals and holes in walls. his bday is coming and I am worried about him selling his presents. Also I can not get him cash cause he will buy marijuana or who knows what. He says everybody buys marijuana after x-mas.
I want to give him a present, I want to show him I love him, giving is my love language.Besides, his sibling receives presents for her bday. He is so jellows of his sibling. I am thinking to get him something practical , something he wouldn't really care about .But at least he will not sell it. I feel stupid , because after all he has done to his family , I still want to give him a present. I hope he changes , I hope he does not scam me in a big way someday. For a change I want to have a normal x-mas!
While reading your post, it reminds me of my friend. She has a daughter who had problems when she was in middle school. Cutting classes, bullying and stealing credit cards at work . She experienced spending nights in jail. The problem started from jealousy with her other siblings. She became depressed.
They seek professional help. The daughter had sessions of counselling and she also attended a support group. My friend and her husband had also counselling as well. It’s been 5 years, thankfully my friend's daughter is now doing well.
I’m so sorry to hear about your son. It may be challenging right now but please stay strong. I hope he can get the help he needs. Praying that things will get better in your family. Keep us posted. God bless.
