OCPD Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder Community Group
I would like everyone who joins this group to share and compare stories, tips and anyhing that might help those both directly and indirectly affected. This is for any and all symptoms of this disorder. Please do not confuse it with OCD, but a little of both can exist, so feel free to chat and gather knowledge here at OCPD Support Group.
-- Wed. November 2, 2011 @ 10am -- OCPD tendencies worsen as things in life become more difficult to control - i.e. blood glucose. cannot figure out why it is high sometime so he feels the need to become more controlling over my actions.
-- earlier that morning just waking up -- (( A little explaining of this situation. We do a Wii Fit Plus exercise every morning. We have a yoga mat that we set under the board. This all sits on a hardwood floor in front of two metal DDR pads ( for those who are not Arcade geeks, they are the metal pads with four plastic arrows in the NSEW directions. You step on them according to the beat of the music ). On those pads are two support bars and the bars have supports that touch the floor. Sometimes, the yoga mat bumps against those supports.))) From the top of the stairs he asks his query list, " Did you unplug the modem for five minutes? I answer yes and I get a grumpy look from him. I go to set up the mat and board and the mat is touching the support. He had to make it parallel to the metal pads and equidistant from them without it touching the supports. ---
-- Sun. September 18, 2011 @ 10pm -- It all started when I couldn't park straight on the first attempt while going to the doctor. It took me two times to get it straight. (conversation) Why'd ti take you twice!? Becuz i didn't get it right the 1st time. He snaps back - could have done it once!
Does narcissism tend to be a symptom of OCPD? I thought that was a PD itself. I have just been diagnosed with this, and when reading about the symptoms, I imagine I drive my family crazy with all my minute details about how to do things. Everything is starting to make sense to me know... like all my idiosyncrasies fall into this disorder... like I cannot finish projects bc they are not perfect enough, list making to the max, pointing out the faults of others and seeing them in myself and not seeing the good things. How has this disorder affected you? or anyone else out there.
Upon my little research of the OCPD, i found a blurb about other PD being found along with OCPD. I will find the information again and post it, so that it is right from the source. I will search again, find it and post it.
As far as affecting me, well, I married it. Our relationship suffers because he does not realize he has a PD. Also, if he did know, he would say he would fix it by his own will - not by any pills or doctor. He has to be in control of everything. Makes him feel safer if he tells me what I need to do - even if I have already said it. That is just one example. My issues are of the ADHD side with attention, task management, time management, and a little of that " I cannot finish a project if it is not perfect " and lately I get more irritated if things mess up. You name it: dishes, cutting veggies for dinner, writing something down.... if i mess up, then I curse or let out a frustrating grrrr. Zero patience lately.
I will, as I mentioned earlier, post the information that I have about the link between narcissism and OCPD.
Thank you Gypsy64 for sharing your story.
