I really need some advice or reassurance of anyone who can help me. I have had anxiety disorder with many symptoms of ocd since 2007 however the severity of it seems to change. At the moment I feel its at its worst as I cannot seem to grasp or understand this particular symptom I am experiencing. I will try to explain it in as much detail as possible. Basically since a few days I have had this urge to keep imagining things as if they were in front of me, and these imaginations could be anything! They can as silly as a random giant frog running across the room or me imagining people infront of me in a different light. Eg: wearing different clothes or having dirt on their faces or something! Its so bazzare that evan whilst im typin Im wondering if this is evan a symptom of ocd or anxiety The thing is at first I took these visual images with a pinch of salt but now I cant seem to visually stop imagining things and my mind scribbles an image or sqwiggle for example on everything or most things it lays eyes on. It is getting very annoying as I cant concentrate on the real thing in front of me. Today seems to be a day where my imagination (which I am hoping is causing this) seems to draw a black line or wiggly line ontop of every object before my eyes and then when I look elsewhere at another object or person evan! another black line, and then again elsewhere a black . what is this crazy symptom it is driving me nuts ! I have experienced many symptom of anixiety and ocd but this one is messing with my vision so I cant cope with it . I am distracting myself at everypoint. But I am exhausted now and just would like to know if anyone else has heard of this? To sum things up im not imagining things in my HEAD I am imagingin things as if they were in front of me but invisible if that makes any sense? My logic is telling me its not really there but my imaginations keeps urging me to draw these lines or sqwiggles on everything it comes across as if ticking off a checklist or something!. Anyone please help! I know as anxiety sufferers we have a heightened sense of imagination but is that all this is ?

I'm so sorry you're going through this, I have had a similar experience before, not exactly the same but like it. I couldn't stop imagining certain random images ( like letters or shapes) and it felt as though they were floating there infront of me with everything I did and looked at. Just know, that although it doesn't seem like it, your mind will eventually move on and this obsession will become less frightening to you. Don't worry, this is definitely an OCD symptom, because, for one thing, you know that what you're seeing is coming from an intrusive thought in your mind, you know what you're seeing isn't rea and is your imaginationl. Try not to attach a dark or disasterous meaning to your current problem, and recognize it for what it is, OCD. Just know that I have felt similar to how you are feeling, and you're not alone.

I seem to recall something similar to that but I think I was really young. I think it just sort of went away after a while because something replaced it. Like, I was imagining that people's faces changed or something. It's a little vague because it was so long ago. I remember when I was really young I'd almost make a game from my OCD and it would entertain me. (Didn't know I had it!) Anyway, I think doubtinggirl has a good plan. Try not to attach disaster thoughts to the images and just let the images be there and continue to do whatever you're doing. Eventually, they will go away or be replaced.

omg i am soo glad i am not the only one experiencing this its a horrible and annoying sympton which makes me feel very dizzy and soo anxious whilst im havin a severe episode of it, im distracting myself at every moment the initial thought of visually scribbling enters my brain as i dont wanna get carried away, thank you both soo much for your reply , it means soo much to me seriously!! i have the wierd face thing too where i will imagine different faces on diff people and its freaks me out! i played with my ocd for a while too but then when a new intrusive thoughts crops up with a different theme i feel like i have to develop yet another strategy to accept them for what they are, i hate the fact that intrusive and obessesive thoughts come in soo many forms and are attached to random and different things, once you overcome one intrusive obsession another one develops!! its some crazy stuff!
