Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.

The most important step one can take is to make peace with yourself and with the OCD. We can live through this and enjoy life...If you start here all other things will fall into place.
My meds helped a lot...especially making me relax. But remember is still your own choice if you want to take the meds.
Then you can also use breathing to relax, just listen to nice music, start writing a dairy about OCD, your fears and anxieties, and also about things that makes you feel good.
There is still a lot you can do... to make you feel better. There is no quick cure for this...it takes time to heal. Jerry
I agree with Jerry that is important to make peace with the OCD and accept it and not fight it but learn to live with it. It will be with you forever. I know that sounds scary, but it isn't. I will have it forever and it doesn't scare me at all. Its just part of who I am.
Good luck to you and I am so sorry about your grandpa.
Best Wishes, MelodyJane
