Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Not Jesus, not David Blaine, not Santa Claus can just make it all go away.
The Devil is a fictional character, like Scooby Doo or Homer Simpson, so he won't just run away unless you cartoonise it in your imagination.
OCD is very, very real and very difficult to address and deal with.
Please don't underestimate the gravity and reality of peoples' psychiatric illnesses and please don't ridicule us by making such glib and cursory comments/solutions.
anishad87, please go and talk to your GP and ask to see a psychiatrist/community psychiatric nurse. You need to be able to tell a professional what it is that bothers you so that they can find you the appropriate help.
Good luck Leicester Girl!! x
i agree totally with you, people assume its the 'devil' and try to use stupid religious cures which just make it worse.
OP, see a therapist and a psychiatrist and see what they can do. you can get better you just need help. message any time :)
what ifs can drive you "nucknfuts", so stop thinking about what ifs. And yes you can stop thinking about them.
right now your undisciplined and your thoughts are going every which way. Reign them in
"why did I look in that direction" "because, I bloody well wanted to"
And yes, if your not getting help from a professional, then go see one.
Yesterday full day I am worried about my sons , younger one is just two years , I imagined him falling from steps , horrible I thought of putting a helmet to him (A silly thought).
OCD can be controlled .
I have had every single thought and reaction u have had. And your not alone. I was diagnosed with ocd the pure o 25 years ago..and completely understand where ur coming from.
Ocd is quite draining and our lovely brains get stuck on the simpliest things and twist them into something either scary or so far off track we are left with what the duece? And then left to have the repeats mixed with the emotions its causing and then questioning ourselves and left with the could this happen? Will this happen? Will i do this? Will it happen to me? And we actually begin to question our own actions and loose a trust in our selves.
We have thesw thoughts because our minds our just plain busy. I always say my chemicals are havin a party on my fear worry side and there hopped up on caffene..if our minds are always busy..we will spend a amount of time jumping from past present and future..when our minds are done with that ..they begin to mess with our surroundings like sounds ..body functions..basically its our minds way of keeping busy.
Its important when this happens to remember who we r..we never lost ourself our judgement our morals our compassion and our strength we are very much there..but the fears interrupt and make us feel we havw to question everything.
When i go through boughts i let my mind do what it needs to do. And remind myself that i know who iam beyond my ocd... MY ocd cant hurt me..my thoughts cant hurt me..and i will always be ok..i have always been ok..it can get scary..hard...cause depression panic attacks..and make us feel plain nuts.
But if i have this..i have everything i need to combat it..if i have this i have the ability to let my spirit shine...if i have this fear is nothing to me but a word that i define..not what the world defines..if i have ocd it is only a small part of me..not my entire being..if i have this my strength is never ending..and if i have this i have the ability to understand it. Except it and make it through it.
