Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Big hugs and good luck trying it...just remember that if it gets too bad, you can always stop it...the therapist isn't God, can't literally force you to do anything. But if you think it might help, try as hard as you can:)
for example if someone were to smear peanut butter on my coffee table and tell me i can't clean it for a week my anxiety level would be 100+, but if i was told i could only clean my coffee table twice a week now instead of five times a day that would probably put me around a 50 or 60, so you would want to do that exposure first.
the ocd project is for such a short time that they go to the extremes right away. don't worry, most therapist shouldn't do that to you!
