Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
You posted a question. I was answering it with my experience. If you read what I wrote, you will notice I said that, during my 23 years of having severe O.C.D., I had some of the best sex of my life. Things are just more troublesome at this point. Again, I didn't mean to trigger you, any more than other peoples' posts were meant to trigger me. As to "It's pure shit.", that is how it feels, at times However, S.T.D.'s are not make-believe.. And, I don't get "....stiff with anxiety" every time I see a woman, or think of her sexually. I was mainly speaking of having consensual, unprotected sex with a woman that one doesn't know well, and/or doesn't have a history of trust with. And by the way, "celibate" is spelled the way I just spelled it.
I had fears of contamination bit these fears were overtaken once I had an erection and the teenage lad came to the forefront and I had only one thing in mind. Never did the thought of rape enter my mind when I was with a girlfriend. In fact the rape thoughts always followed a pattern that involved a stranger in a park at night. Very bothersome but easily controlled once the anxiety hit. I would count or run. Keep in mind I was not diagnosed at the time and I had no idea what was going on. Exercise helped me control my thoughts.
When I had steady girlfriends and eventually married the fears of contamination were still there, but sex rituals took over when we would both shower prior to having sex. Spontaneity would seem to be out of the question but it did occur at times.
All I can suggest is to go slow and not expect things to happen right off the bat and be patient with yourself. Also try to understand the anxiety and the numb feeling to better be able to overcome it or work with it. Eventually the sex drive will win out if you are patient, as difficult as it will be.
One other thing to consider is your meds. Are you on any meds that can dull your sex drive?
