Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
I have a supportive spouse who helps me, but I have been known to see friends not stay.
I will pray for you and your family and I would encourage you to have your husband log on here to find help
But as a spouse we also have needs and we can't just give all the time..I wish I could just put my own needs aside but everyone needs basic needs for filling.
Also, seek out some therapy for yourself around the issue of codependence with a therapist who is very educated about OCD so you'll know how to foster as healthy of a relationship as possible between your child and your child's father. Cutting off contact between them could be extremely detrimental for both in the short and long runs.
If your spouse has never received a specific type of therapy known as Exposure Response Prevention Therapy, paericularly as part of an intensive outpatient program, see if you can find such and share the information. This is the only type of treatment with a strong correlation to improved functioning and quality of life. There is such a program at Behavioral Medicine Institute in Saint Louis (Missouri) that I know has been attended by people even from other countries. (As well, I know they train people from all over the world there.) Anyway, if you love him as much as you seem, I thought you might like to know. Bless you.
