Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Welcome here.
I don't see OCD as an escape, because I can't escape it anymore. It's part of me. But how I react to it determine my state of health. A more relaxed approach brings a better level of acceptance of OCD and it's symptoms.
I tried for a long time to fight this, but it only escalates into something real bad. Acceptance is number one and the next step is control. We can control OCD to live a better and happy life. We're all on a journey with the OCD and our stop signs and triggers are different, but it's the same path. How we react to what OCD throws at us determine our health. We have to live through the OCD to discover the real me. J
