Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
I'm sorry your having a bad time.
Winter and Holidays are my worst as well.
I do understand what your talking about, I stress over everything at work when I'm home and
everything at home when I'm at work.
If I don't get the opportunity to "check" what I know I'll stress about later, then yes, it is very disturbing to me.
I am a little better than I used to be about some things, but developed other things I need to check before I feel comfortable.
I'm sure if you've read other OCD post you either have (or will have) seen where it is referred to as the "bully in your mind"
or something similar to that.
This is true.
It is actually worse than a real bully because its in your own mind and knows what scares, disturbs and bothers you most.
Please don't feel alone, this is a very common symptom of the disease.
I agree with HokieOCD as well, if it gets to a point that you cant take the pressure, you really should see a Specialist and get back on some kind of medication.
This site is awesome and I truely appreciate all of the great people here, but sometimes you need face to face with a Professional whether you want to or not.
Feel better soon! :)
I am glad you posted this. It is comforting to know that other good people are fighting similar battles to me. I wish you well.
