Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Had that weird feeling around my mom / mum once, too. And lots of times, of course, found myself in crazy situations in my dreams that would be disturbing in real life. In the case of dreams I think it's an exaggerated form of something else to get your attention. When you have those thoughts in real life, it's just a little built up impulse or lag time before your suppression response kicks in. I'm sure everybody has those weird urges, just some people might be conscious of them more often than others.
I've read the front part of the brain is generally understood to do the suppression of impulses, and has been found more developed in certain Buddhist monks who meditate heavily as part of their practice. I've been deep-breathing about 15 minutes every morning to help me stay calm in social situations at work, I do notice a difference if I miss it. Also been practicing some body awareness exercises, maybe along the lines of what you had mentioned to me in a mention. My therapist is also recommending it.
