Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.

Honestly, I can't help feeling like I'm crazy, or I don't even understand who I am lately. I feel like after reading up on OCD i am finding little things in my everyday life that I do that cause me stress, and I try my hardest to be stress free.
I feel like I go through rituals with everything I do, kind of a bad habit in a way. For example, if Im making food, I am constantly doing things until the food is done, and while I'm making it I'm analyzing everything I have to do and I do it in the fastest way possible. For some reason even though Im not in a rush I feel the urge to do it this way to please my compulsion. When i make pasta I always fill up the pot with water, and while that is filling in one hand im turning on the stove and thinking of my next 3 steps while multi tasking.
whether its going through my daily rutines like that, or if Im driving home from going out while Im approaching my house I get these huge urges to untie my sneakers, take off my seat belt, collect all my items and shut off the light before I get to the house.
I mean recently I feel like I am focusing more on what I've been doing. Now these are only two things I do in a day, by my whole day consists of many stupid compuslsions that i feel like I have to do or I get really anxious.
I also get real anxious whenever something gets on my mind. I constantly think of that thought until it gets done.
Before I go to bed each night i lay in bed and some times my body will be so tired, I play many sports, but my mind does not seem to have an off button and no matter what I do I can't stop my mind from racing.
Now i dont know if ocd is hereditary but I do know my mother is on zanux and shes had horrible anxiety her whole life, and i see many signs of ocd in my father.
Im just having so many doubts about everything lately and Im trying my hardest to find steps, or suggestions that could help me move forward.
Hopefully someone can help me out with all of this I feel soo unconfortable with all this going on everyday.

With OCd we have "rituals" or compulsions that we do to relieve the anxiety we feel. I know I wayyyy overanalyze lots of things, but I also know that is the OCD. I am wanting to try CBT therapy once I get some money bc it helps you get rid of the rituals and the anxiety eventually goes away. There is also lots of different medications out there to help with the racing thoughts. I am currently on luvox and it helps somewhat, not a 100% but something is better than nothing. I would recommend seeing a therapist and a psychiatrist. This is just the OCD don't let it get you down and stay strong!

It may be OCD. Certainly rituals that are done b/c of anxiety and cannot be stopped w/o anxiety levels increasing are characteristics of OCD. But, I agree with Krystle you should see a professional who can help you.

Could it be that you are OCDing and OCD? I say this because when someone (a friend who is a therapist) "diagnosed" me with OCD...I OCDd about OCDing. Everything I did..I obsessed if I was doing it because of OCD or because it was normal or if...whatever. My day was full of thoughts thoughts thoughts..wondering if what I was doing was normal or OCD. If it effects your life....in a bad way..it's OCD.

Hehe it's funny that you say this because my friend who has this says I do that here and there. I do, and I apologize if it's annoying. It's all real new.. something Ive been doing my whole life thats been bothering me that I finally understand.

i feel like i have to hurry to get everything done too. no reason. i've slowed down lately. sometimes when i get home i go straight to the garage and grab my lawnmower and start mowing in my good clothes...just because i was thinking i need to mow. also i wake up on sat morn at seven and do the same thing. i skip breakfast, putting on normal clothes...waking up...straight to mowing. i do ten things while i'm boiling water. i feel like i'm wasting time if i don't. OCD!!
