Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
I don't act on them.I feel horror and disgust at the image, mixed with fear.
It's like having a horror film in your head? Not even a fun one.
...alternatively, I get intrusive memory of social faux pases, and I feel intense shame.
I may chant OM to shut my brain up for both.
...this is just what I get to live with. My brain likes to beat me up.
