Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Mostly I obsess but I have done my fair share of hand-washing. I pretend I'm a clean freak...Actually maybe my compulsion might be that I feel this great need to confess things to people, like secrets so they know i'm not so great. These can be difficult to subtly slip into conversation.
But really I try not to tell anyone about my ocd. I find they arrive at so many cliched conclusions about how i must feel OR EVEN WOSE they say 'oh I have that too! I have to *insert clean/ordering behaviour which is quirky and takes five seconds* here. That just insults me.
