Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.

I am 46 years old and have been diagnosed with OCD and Tourette's Syndrome. My Tourette's onset was at age 7. I did not start treatment for it until I was 20. I am a master at disguising and suppressing tics in public. I supress, but I have to vent them when I am alone, if you were to walk into my house when nobody but me is there and listen for a few minutes, you would think Satan lives there! Lol Sometimes I'm even shocked about what comes out of my mouth sometimes! I also have OCD, which commonly co-exists with Tourette's. I was not diagnosed with OCD until 3 years ago. It took forever to get a proper diagnosis, kept hearing anxiety and Depression for years, until I researched and figured out for myself. My Psychs agreed! Duh, I have Tourette's, how hard was that for a professional to dignose? Not very hard. Sayes alot about the DR's where I live. Anyway, I am also disabled from chronic pain, caused by a rare intestinal birth defect. I have had one surgery 7 years ago, and I have another surgery in 10 days, I really hope it helps, because I am so miserable right now, I'm losing hope on ever having a normal life again.
My mind is in constant turmoil with obsessing about every little issue in my life when I am awake. It's impossible to ignore the abdominal pain, I obsess about it and that unleashes a whole barrage of thoughts spinning through my mind, where the solution always ends up, kill yourself! I would never act on these thoughts, but, nevertheless they are there and it is becoming disturbing after 7 years to say the least. My Tourette's have gone berserk, my mind is racing constantly with problems and solutions, it never shuts up until I go to sleep. I am stuck in a vicious circle and have been for quite some time now! The constant racing thoughts flying by at the rate of hundreds per day are enough to push me over the edge! I take Luvox 300mg, but it seems to have stopped working altogether. I have not had much luck with drugs, and I have been through buckets of them!
In summary, between the Tourette's, OCD and chronic illness I am going crazy trying to battle the war within my head! Is there anyone here with OCD and Tourette's? The combination of the 2, coupled with the chronic pain is insanely mind boggling! My illnesses have all showed up consecutively and with every one of them, the stress and Depression from it all just keeps getting worse. I am trying to fight a war in my head with limited weapons!? I use CBT with some effectiveness, but that alone is not going to cut it. I need meds, but tired of playing "Switch Em' " with drugs. Marijuana is effective for the Tourette's Syndrome (FBI, come arrest me for a joint! Lol) but, I don't know much about it's affects on OCD, my thinking is it should help by breaking up my thought train so I don't obsess as much. Just looking for some feedback on how to deal with all of this crap! My life has been destroyed because of 1 chronic physical illness that has turned into a mountain of mental illness and depression. Thanks! Sly
