Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
you have written about this before,,,,,,CBT works very well for that OCD symtpom,,,,,,,
Just a little tip but I assume you are really JUST having thoughts and NOT hearing voices,,,,,,there is a BIG difference,,,,once you hear voices, you have schizophrenia and NOT OCD,,,,,,all I am sure you have are thoughts and there are many females that have written about having the very same fearful thoughts of harming their kids,,,,,
Hope you get the professional help you need to overcome these intrusive thoughts and whatever compulsions you use to try to relieve the fear/anxiety,,,,,
So, in summary, you are NOT hearing voices (good news) but you DO have OCD (bad news)!
Runnin's post would have sent me into a full blown panic attack as it would many OCDers. Many of us with OCD fear we have schizophrenia. The "voices" you describe also sound to me like ocd THOUGHTS. However, if you are truly hearing VOICES there are many other mental disorders that could be at the root of them, not just schizophrenia as runnin mistakenly stated. Bipolar disorder, whether manic or depressed can lead to auditory hallucinations and some PTSD symptoms can include them as well. Just to name a few. Just need to clarify as sometimes misinformation, though well intentioned, can lead ro further problems. Hope you are feeling better.
