Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Over the years, I've tried many medications, Lexapro, Zoloft, and Paxil. No medication has completely freed of my obsessions and compulusions. I've been drug free for about a year. I now see a therapist, and she focuses on hypnosis, relaxation techniques, and medication. The alternative methods work well for me. I am able to alter my thinking and calm my anxiety. It gives me a sense of control.
