You are kidding yourself if you think your body is going to continue to deal with 1,000 calories a day at your weight. The goal is to lower your caloric intake just to the point BEFORE your body goes into starvation mode. It's a myth that we have to make these DRASTIC changes to have effective, steady, long-term weight loss.
You will be doing yourself a HUGE favor if you would amp up your caloric intake to 1,500 calories a day. At your weight, the 1,500 would still be too low, but, it would sure beat the 1,000 calories you're having now. If you can't bring yourself to amp up your calories completely, maybe try 1,000 calories for a week, and 1,500 calories the next week, then keep alternating between the two calorie amounts each week.
I really AM happy for you, but, your body is planning a mutiny over the 1,000 calories a day, hon. Don't be surprised when it happens. I think one of the most heartbreaking things we can do on our weight loss journey is watching our success go up in smoke because we were too restrictive. You really need to give your body a break here, LiliannB.
You don't have to torture yourself to lose weight - and forcing a body that weighs over 400 lbs to live on 1,000 calories a day is torture.
You are really inspiring.
BUT!
I think 1000 calories a day... it's not enough. Your body will riot, and set itself starving-mode and if you go a bit up on your calories you will start to gain weight. That's how our body works. I have never heard any exceptions.
So if I were you I would raise my calories intake to 1500 or so.
You are so strong to be able to live on 1000 calories a day so I am sure 1500 would work, too.
No one is an expert on calories..Its a personal choice. I choose a low calorie due of my past experince..In the past was on a liquid diet and now am eating less, 3 small meals and 2 snacks. With food..
My low calorie plan is not for life..Its only a short term goal and then will up my calories. I know what am doing.
I am grateful for your concern...I am doing good and finally losing!! Thank you!!
I'm a little confused though. On 9/13 you posted that you had lost 26 lbs. Now, one day later, you're saying you've lost 36 lbs.
You may think you know what you're doing, but, your body is not going to continue to deal with the amount of calories you're giving it. Obviously though, your mind is made up here. Just don't be surprised when the mutiny happens.
Wishing you all the best...
Janice

Yes, I HAVE heard of the term "...eat less, exercise more...", but, we have to be sensible in following that. The term is eat less, not eat so little that you're almost in starvation mode. From the menu you've posted here, that is simply not enough food for a body that weighs almost 400 lbs...and we're not even factoring in the calories you're burning when you exercise. So, you're netting even less than the 1,000 calories a day, after you factor in the calories burned during exercise and just the calories we burn off as we go about our day.
I'm not trying to upset you, LiliannB, so I apologize if I have. You obviously have your mind made up and you're not going to listen to anything else. But, you will HAVE to listen to your body, hon. If you continue to force your body to live on the amount of food you're giving it right now, it's going to not only start talking to you soon, it's going to be screaming.
You've made so much progress. It would be shame to see all of that go for naught because you asked more of your body than it was able to give. If you ease up just a little, (please consider amping your calories to 1,500 a day) you'll be able to go the distance. And, that's what we're all striving for.
But you gave up coffee too? I dont think I could do that. But I am swedish and was told by my swedish doc that coffee will help the weight loss...(with no cream and sugar of course). Good luck to you, keep us updated!!
