Hi,

I'm 5'5" and 308lbs, i don't have any major health problems, just problems with my back and knees. My blood pressure is fine. Has anyone on here at this weight or more, got pregnant?
Myself and my wife desperately want a baby. My wife was going to go down that route, but is now having big health problems herself and we've had to put it on hold. The only reason she was going to do it, was because of my weight. But i'm now thinking about going down the route. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and whether you had any problems.

I wasn't quite at that weight when I got pregnant, but weighed in at 298 on "delivery day". (I'm only 5 ft tall.)The only problem I encountered, and which was not necessarily weight-related, was edema - feet swelled during last 2 months, and also oddly enough, the skin on my belly! No problems during an 8-hour labor - I was induced - and delivery was a breeze! Good luck & best wishes to you both! -Lori

i was over 300 pounds 5'2 for all 3 pregnancies. i had no problems with getting pregnant

I'm 5ft 6, and was about 290lbs the day I gave birth (but about 50lbs lighter when I conceived)....I had no problems whatsoever, straightforward vaginal delivery.

However, I am now having problems conceiving my 2nd child - I was 292 this morning, have been down to about 250lbs and up to 306lbs but no joy (just 6 early miscarriages).

I have an appointment at the end of Nov to see a fertility consultant, but I know that there's a good chance that my size s playing a part in this, as there are proven links between fertility issues/recurrent miscarriage/and complications during pregnancy associated with obesity.

I'm not trying to put you off hun, but what I'm saying is, size affects some people but not others when it comes to having a baby...you just can't tell until you try.

hi, you gave us your height and weight but not your wifes? If she is having major health problems, I would keep putting off having a baby until she is better and gets the OK from a doctor. We never had children and we both have major medical problems. Our decision was based on this and how unfair it would be to bring a child into the world while we ourselves have so many problems and can hardly take care of ourselves. I know how much you both want to be parents and nobody can tell you what to do, but please try to look into your future and ponder what is right and fair for all involved. If your both healthy, go for it and God Bless!

I was about 240 when we conceived my first child and had some blood pressure issues right at the end (I was about 265 at delivery). I was 272 when I got pregnant the second time, but miscarried at 9 weeks. It wasn't necessarily obesity-related, just a chromosomal deficiency. I do say this though, getting pregnant at a high weight can be harder on you--you are tired when you are pregnant, and being heavy, and gaining with pregnancy, can make it harder. I had a c-section, also not obesity-related, but the recovery was slower due to being overweight. Just sit down and discuss all of it and maybe see a doctor to see what he/she would reccommend.
