My emotions are a big part if why I eat too much. I lost weight many years ago exercising and drinking lots of ice water (to feel full and not eat as much plus the ice water makes you body use up a very small number of calories to heat the water to body temperature - every little bit helps), But of course exercise was easier since I was much smaller to begin with and didn't feel like such a freak at the gym.
I wish I could tell you the best diet. I am trying to figure that out myself. Eating more slowly helps me. Trying to pay attention to how full I am has been helping me. And I am trying to up my water intake, too.
I wish you the best.
Breast Feeding, if you can do it, will certainly help you drop some recently gained weight.
A lifestyle change does help to loose weight. Try to eat 4 or 5 low carb meals a day with tons of fresh vegetables and fruit, drink eight glasses of water a day, do not eat sugar or flour if you can help it and, the most important thing is to EXERCISE. By exercise I mean no less than an hour of cardio a day EVERY DAY.
You need to make it a way of life, not a Diet which is temporary.
It's hard and, I am not so successful but, it is the only thing that has ever worked to keep the weight coming off and staying off.

Some people are obessed about weight in the medical field.
I know I need to lose weight. I am a diabetic taking pills for that and have sleep apnea. My heart is good but they want me to have the heart stress test every year. I don't think I am going to have it this year.

If I was going to have any weight loss surgery I think that would be it. I doubt if my insurance would pay for it. I would rather go to the Y and lose it slowly. I would be afraid I might have to have the loose skin removed that was left over from losing it so fast. I know a woman who had it and she didn't need the skin surgery afterwards. I hope my daughter doesn't.
Cheri you have done great!!!

LOL I had to laugh at that one. As you can see, you can ask 20 different people how to lose weight and you will get 20 different answers. You already know the answer. Diets don't work. Low carb, low fat, low protein, low whatever, it's all nonsense. Exercise is my saving grace. The scale doesn't show a change but I'm fitting into sizes that I haven't fit into in years, I'm stronger, and my horrid back pain is usually a dull ache now. As for what to read about how to change, I suggest Dr. Phil's 7 keys. It sounds like a fad but all the information is solid nutritional information. It's not a promise to drop 20 pounds this month. It can be a tool to lose a few pounds a month and get back on track.
Eventhough I personally don't do it, I know many many people who have successfully lost (a lot) of weight and kept it off with Weight Watchers. My cousin was taking steriods to help her get pregnant, which caused her to gain 70 lbs. She joined WW, and lost 60 in 6 months! She swears by it, and she looks at food in a totally different way now.
They have an online community too, if you don't have the time (or you just don't feel comfortable) to go to the actual meetings. I wish you the best of luck! Let us know how it's going!
