So I started my weight loss journey at about 370 lbs and have since lost in about a year's time about 110 lbs. I've stayed mostly consistent with the lifestyle change and exercise but I find myself looking ahead and feeling a little overwhelmed and discouraged. To get to my goal I have about 140 lbs to lose. I don't know why now a little bit less than halfway into it I feel this way but the journey ahead for some reason looks so daunting. I question whether or not I will be able to stick to this and find myself doubting myself and my abilities now more than ever. It sounds strange to say that because I have lost so much weight and I haven't really lost my motivation to stick to the plan. I'm curious to see if anyone else when looking at the task ahead feels the same way. Or anyone who has lost a lot of weight ever went through the same thing.

Sorry you're feeling this way stephanie777. You've definitely done too well to turn back now. The feelings could be the fear of becoming smaller. It will surely be a new adjustment for you. I'm sure it's o.k. to feel this way. All of us here have admired your courage in losing the first 110 pounds, and I for one, believe you can reach your goal. Great going and stay positive.

Stephanie when I look at the weight I still have to lose I get discouraged and when I look at what ive lost I wonder if I will ever get to my goal. People are kind and interested in how much Ive lost, how long it took me, how much to go and when will I get there and that gets me so discouraged I could cry. They mean well and yes I should acknowledge the fats but I rather not dwell on it right now till I've got halfway. So the only figure i look at is what the scale tells me when I step on it, less pressure equals less worry for me - I find it easier to concentrate on the moment, not the past and definitely not the future!

The way I see it, you've made a hell of a dent in your weight loss and that is something to celebrate. So, you have more to go. We all have more to go in our weight loss goals. The fact you HAVE lost so much weight on your journey speaks volumes about your determination and ability to lose the rest. Keep on keeping on and remember to keep your chin up.
