Obesity Support Group
This community is dedicated to those of us struggling with obesity. Obesity is thought to be a significant risk factor in certain health conditions, leading to increased mortality. Find the support you need by sharing your story, asking questions, and learning from others on how they have coped.
Family is a broken mirror. They have no idea how you feel when they say things like that. Maybe they would like to help you, not because you are chubby, but because they see it influences your self-esteem.
I have really serious problems with accepting my body so my best advise to you: try to love who you are and then you can face anybody and you can hold your head high. Such comments won't touch you.
I would say, don't restrict yourself to any type or physical features. You never know who you will meet and you don't want to miss out on getting to know someone simply because of a silly physical thing.
And also, in my experience it does get better. School and college suck, nobody wants to be there. When you get older and you can choose where you are and what you do, you get to meet a much wider range of people. You can try and get started early by doing activities outside school, maybe volunteering somewhere locally or pursuing a hobby.
As for your family, have you told them that it hurts when they make these comments?
