I started losing a year ago, last October. I'm down slightly over 80 lbs. Started at 240 ish and am now stuck around 163 :(
Started in a sz 22, now in a 12! I never thought I would be in a 12.
Now I want to lose the last 25-30 lbs to get to my ultimate goal. Going slow. Hoping to be there around my birthday, March 22.
That is wonderful! it seems that everytime I lose 30-40 pounds. I would gain it back. I am really trying to focus. It has been 2 years since I lost weight which was about 30lbs.
what advice do you give those of us who are starting out?
What SMALL things do you do that make a HUGE difference?
Please, suggestions:)
Keep up the good work. You will make it. Keep us posted on your progress!
Melinda
Thanks everyone and congrats to everyone who has also been losing weight.
As for suggestions, my #1 thing is DO NOT DENY YOURSELF YOUR CRAVINGS!!!
If I'm craving some chocolate, I want me some chocolate! If I just sit and crave and whine and think about it, I will eat and eat to try and satisfy that craving but it just doesn't work.
For example just yesterday I was seriously craving chocolate chip cookies. I didn't have the ingredients to make them and I didn't want to go to the store. So I made chocolate cupcakes instead (from scratch.) They satisfied my craving, and after 2 cupcakes I was okay :P Everyone in the house liked them and helped eat them haha!!
Also don't weigh yourself every day.. weigh yourself every 2 or 3 weeks instead.
And get moving!! I started gardening this year, so I spend a few hours outside every day (except now my plants are all dying or going dormant cause it's winter time)
15 more lbs to my ultimate goal.
If I have a craving I try to find a better option. If I'm craving chocolate, I drink chocolate flavored coffee. I'm a food addict so if I eat 1 cupcakes I would think, well I already ate 1 so another won't matter. And I would keep saying that until I ate them all.

I think I know one way to help you remain on the success track. I witnessed how obesity and other eating disorders can be succesfully treated by very low calorie diets and periodical fasting.
Please let me know if you are interested.
