I've been eating low carb for about 4 years. It works perfectly for my body. My body needs protein and fats, works best on that sort of 'diet'.
The first 2 weeks are hard, but if you can get through them you will no longer have cravings for the bad stuff(white flour, sugar, rice, potatoes)
I am done with eating for tonight....My carbs is 60 and on target!!! Am following Eat Fat, Get Thin..which he states 60 carbs till I reached goal weight.
I made homemade cole slaw...Love it!!!
I am so happy my sugar level is normal... It has never been under 100 from doing my home kit.
Have a on plan weekend!!
Liliann
You can do it, I know you can. I tried everything else, low fat, low cal I was always hungry and grouchy and had a headache. Also my guts do not do well with grains and carbs so I was in the bathroom a lot. When I eat on plan I feel so good!
I am glad you posted this thread. It was just suggested by my doc yesterday to try a low carb diet and we decided together on the South Beach Plan. I am starting TODAY actually so yes, I am as nervous as can be, but I am also a little psyched. I'm a vegie over fruit eater and I LOVE greens based salads too. Unfortunately I am also a carb, sugar and salt craver and LOVE a good crunchy cracker and chip.
The first two weeks will be LONG, but I can do it - especially with this thread to rant, ramble, vent, and share too.
Thanks ladies!
Hugs!
Lisa
Lisa.... Happy that you here and wishing you good luck...
I am doing good so far...I love this and this LC way of eating controls my hunger, its amazing!! I have LC flu ,which I don't mind..Its the 2nd week will be the toughest...
I want to peak on the scale, but am doing my best not too, not till next week...
Stay strong my LC buddies...We can do this!!!
Liliann
The doc and I chose this diet due to my health risks/needs and the fact that I am a carb craving lunatic with very little if any self control!
Oh, and i also lost a pound this week! And, even better, I can see my toes again! My knuckles/bones on my hands were more noticeable too - a real plus since they had been so painful and swolen! I am excited! (I will lose mostly water over phase 1 and hopefully with that all the horrible inflammation! Also on a new med for that.)
Hugs and GOOD LUCK ALL!
Lisa
This new combo of diet, scheduled exercise and new anti-inflammatory med seems to be doing good for me. I know this "rapid" loss will not last, but i will sail away on the "high" as long as it does.
Only 12 more days of phase one. Then, they say, you can expect a more normal weight decrease of 1-2 lbs per week.
I know my emotional happiness should not be tied to the weight loss, but lets face it - that scale did not move for 2-3 weeks (or worse-went up!) and to see it finally going the other way is awesome!
Good Luck Everyone!
Hugs!
Lisa
I have lost 19 pounds so far - and that's with not being super strict, like say if I go to a birthday party or public function I eat the healthiest things offered and smaller portions then I would normally consume.
But no fruit, no sugar, no carb all day everyday till March 1st and then I will slowly start up the phase 2. And I am taking a multivitamin to make sure I am not losing out on as many nutrients as possible.
I have increased my daily water intake (from basically none) to at least 2-3 bottles a day in hopes that the weight I lose won't be all just water weight so far.
After the next 11 lb I am going to start a schedule of exercise at home with the few resources I have here.
If you have an suggestions or recipes to share feel free to post them!
Good luck everyone! Glad there is a LC thread
I plan to stay on phase 1 for the duration, again, like you, as best as I can, and may extend it further until we go on Spring Break March 8th. I don't like to make changes while working.
I'm really liking this diet and am finding it easy to stick to..Have to watch the nuts tho. I do love them!
I am also tracking calories and fitness on webmd just to try to keep me a bit focused.
Good Luck!
Lisa

Vegetarianism is the one thing I could not do, I think. I am a protein and carb lover - so...
I hear it is one of the best diets tho and many, may people swear by it for it's health benefits.
Keep us posted, if not on this thread, then another.
Lisa
isteele48 - keep me posted on how you're doing.
I hope all is going well for all of you.
Good Luck and HUGS!
