Obesity Support Group
This community is dedicated to those of us struggling with obesity. Obesity is thought to be a significant risk factor in certain health conditions, leading to increased mortality. Find the support you need by sharing your story, asking questions, and learning from others on how they have coped.
That is a quote from Jack LaLanne, fitness guru. As a person who's been obese most of my life, I know that life isn't fair when it comes to metabolism, heredity, and so forth.
Most of the posts I've read so far on this Obesity Support Group have been from people considering surgery and/or drugs to control their weight.
But without will power, without discipline, these temporary solutions will fail in the long run. They can be quite dangerous as well. (But of course so can the health consequences of remaining obese.)
I have lost 100 pounds without bariatric surgery. Need to lose 50 to 80 more. It's difficult to stay motivated. It's easy to feel angry or sorry for myself (that I can't eat the way thin people do). But as Jack LaLanne says, If YOU don't do it, who will? Who CAN? You are the only one who can help yourself.

I am maintaining my weight loss now after reaching my goal and am thankful for the head start surgery gave me... it is **ONLY a head start** I'll be fighting obesity for the rest of my life. What motivates me is the fact that i love my size and strength and how it makes me feel and i have my military discipline to keep me on track.
