Well, I have been through 1 very nasty breakup and am currently dealing with 1 that's been over for about 5 months.
What I can tell you is that (and i need to take my own advice here) the pain does indeed fade but it takes time, a positive attitude, the will to make it through, and support from friends, family, and people like you see here on this website.
I know what you're going through. The feelings of inadequacy, the feeling that nobody else will want you and clearly something was terribly wrong with you for your ex to leave you.
Now, I won't say nothing is wrong with you, because we all have our vices. I don't know the circumstances around your breakup but they honestly don't matter much in the long run. If you feel like you have glaring imperfections there is NO better time to fix them than right now. Those negative emotions you harbor are a powerful motivator to change what you don't like in yourself but you have to get your mind in the right place, and remember you are changing these things for YOU not anybody else.
You need to feel good about yourself again, find out what makes you unique, what makes you YOU, and most importantly, find the things that maybe you don't like about yourself and work on changing them. Remember, your emotions can be an invaluable tool to motivate yourself with but you have to get there first.
I'm looking forward to seeing how you progress and I hope this helps a little. Good luck sir.
I am sorry you are going thru this. Relationships are tough, no matter what our age and how they break up.
Now is the time to focus on you. Eat healthy, enjoy work or school, and try hobbies or activities that interest you.
Take care.
Years later we have both moved on well, but it wasn't until I gave myself that space to adapt to who I wanted to be on my own, before I could even consider any kind of healthy adult relationship.
