But I know many people like to hike, go swimming in lakes or beaches, or they will play a sport. All activities that burn calories but don't take place in a gym.
It costs some to get the equipment. You need a game system and at least one mat. If I were you I would invest in a more expensive mat. The cheap ones slide around and make it harder.
DDR is kind of a teenage solution, but its actually worthwhile outside of the 18 and under crew. I really like the workout mode because you can track how far you have "jogged" and how many calories you've burned.
If you're a stay at home mom, which I'm not arguing with, I wish I could have been one, the only thing I can say is perhaps go to the park and strive to do the monkey bars. Its a proud moment when you can finally do it, and it's something for your kids to attain as well :)
There has to be something that you can bite the bullet on and just do. Not neccessarily because you like it but because you know it will benefit you. I actually prefer the gym, it puts a little competitve edge spin on things. Especially being a woman...it really freaks some men out to see a woman lift more than them!!! hee hee hee. But that suits my personality. I love being active and I love to work out. Keep looking, but don't do it standing still!
