I started looking into bariatric surgery/gastric bypass.
I am 5'1" and 215 lbs, so I'm not sure if I qualify, but I would love to know what people's experience has been with the surgery.
How long are you recovering from the surgery? How painful is it?
Does it really make you not want to eat that much? I'd love to get to a point where I don't have the urge to eat all the time...
I would want to use this surgery option as a last result, but I am so scared of all of the side effects I've been reading about. Is it really that bad?
On a non-surgical front, I was also looking into weight loss management programs like the one run by NYU (nyuweightloss.org) and it sounds like an interesting approach/a good alternative to surgery.
For anyone that has done that type of thing before, has this type of thing helped you? Any down sides?

I chose lap band surgery. I had 4.5 ccs before surgery. I actually never really went through bandster hell as a lot of banded patients call it. Bandster hell is the extreme hunger experienced post the surgical procedure and before any fills.
