Are you doing a paper : I
I have chronic asthma and respiratory problems, requiring me to take large doses of prednisone and steroids. Not only has this caused me to gain weight, it has weakened my bones. I suffer from lower back pain and sciatic nerve damage every day. But it's gotten better over the years. Spinal injections helped tremendously. I'm hoping your's and your friend's back pain does not require the shots though.
Having a computer, you might do a search for exercises for those with lower back pain and see what you can find. I think it varies per individual what works and what doesn't. When my pain is at it's worst, I can barely get out of bed, let alone exercise. Ask your Dr what they recommend as well.
Concrete floors kill me! Standing on hard surfaces gives me so much grief. I finally bought myself a decent pair of walking shoes which gave me better support. That might make a big difference in the length of your walk.
Wish you and your friend the best of luck! Hang in there, and don't give up! (((Hugs)))
I had severe knee pain before I lost some weight and now it really only bothers me when I do too much, like hiking uphill or when it's cold and damp.
Swimming can be a good place to start with the excercise regime.
The water bouncy can help alleviate the pain initially and then once the weight has started to reduce and your muscles become stronger it will become easier to walk without the lower back pain being such a problem.
Another exercise that I find much easier on my back and joints is the exercise bike. I don't have one at home but am hoping to get one.
Also, take care of posture. If you/she work then get occupational health dept to fix you up with a proper specialised chair and make sure chair, desk and computer are all adjusted correctly. If not, then look into it on your own - for example, never use a laptop in bed, always sit properly at a desk with a fully supportive and adjusted chair and limit exposure to screens generally.
I did find a slight "remedy"..I got some heat-based muscle rub and applied it thick! During walk, it tried to hurt--but the warming sensation did give me some comfort.
I have laid off sweets...I thought of the gluten-free diet, however, I heard on the radio this is dangerous??
I thank you all for your continued advice and support...you are great people:)
I am able to walk and I always make sure my shoes are not worn down and gove good support but some flex in sole as well.for cushioning. I tend to walk on the outside edge of my left foot because of damage to tendons, but agaiin good support keeps it in place.
I like to do an exersizewhich has me walking my hands down my legs and trying to just go down I vertabrae at a time, then I hang for a few minuts and walk my hands back up slowly rolling spine up until I am straght. I dont know what it is called but it helps.
