This community is dedicated to those of us struggling with obesity. Obesity is thought to be a significant risk factor in certain health conditions, leading to increased mortality. Find the support you need by sharing your story, asking questions, and learning from others on how they have coped.
Welcome and great to know you.
I am a lot older at 65, but basically I guess this a lifetime issue, it never goes away. Either we are trying to lose or maintain; each one has it challenges.
I don't really care what others say or look at. That is there problem. Try and get your self esteem high, so it won't bother you. It is whats on the inside that matters.I know that is easier said than done.
I am trying for a lifestyle change and don't use that word diet. I am going for 3 meals and 2 snacks, which my focus is on healthy food. Sure we slip sometimes but just get right back on track.
Try for the weight that makes you feel your best. Don't just go by a number on the scale.
My husband eats all kinds of junk foods and buys tons of it. I learned for the most part to just ignore it. I can only change myself. I cannot change any one else.
I also find with a structured eating plan I do better. I am a binge overeater, and if I don't have a plan I eat all day and during the night. That is not what I want to do.
It is work in progress and a lot of head games, but we can do it, because we are strong......
It's hard to ignore the stares and rude comments. Just do your best to put your mind in a different place when this occurs. I've used meditation and Qi Gong techniques to separate my mind and spirit from the insensitive people that might affect my feeling of self-worth.A nasty stare or comment triggers my mind to go someplace peaceful and calm. Sometimes it works and sometimes I just have to cry. Do you remember that scene from the Wizard of Oz? "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain" Just follow the yellow brick road and try to find inner peace.

Nice to meet you. I am new to this group also. Although I have not had any situations where people have ridiculed me about my weight, I am tired of having to buy large size clothes and struggling to tie my shoes, etc. Unfortunately, the American society has a fixed idea on what is the acceptable weight, height, and whatever that people should be.
I look forward to getting to know you all, too. This is a new experience for me too.
