Obesity Support Group
This community is dedicated to those of us struggling with obesity. Obesity is thought to be a significant risk factor in certain health conditions, leading to increased mortality. Find the support you need by sharing your story, asking questions, and learning from others on how they have coped.

So much of the time, it seems like our medical doctors either want to push another pill down our throats, or throw us on the operating table. If you feel weight loss surgery is not the right option for you, Liliann, stick with that. I know for some people it's the right option, but, it isn't the right choice for me either.
I absolutely know how frustrating it can be when you have a serious weight problem, and have really worked at your weight loss efforts for the week, but, the scale is only a few pounds, or 1 pound down. It's so easy to think, "...oh, well, 4 lbs down, only ten million to go!" That's why having patience on this journey is so, so very important.
By not forcing your body to suffer while you're on your weight loss journey (by giving it enough calories), it will reward you by being willing to WORK WITH YOU by not revolting. With your body working with you, you will be able to go the distance with your weight loss AND STILL BE HAPPY ALONG THE WAY.
If you're willing to be patient, you'll see those little weight loss numbers begin to grow into something where, one morning you'll weigh yourself and go, "...WOW!!! I've lost HOW much?????"
Don't worry that your doctor has no faith in your ability to lose the weight on your own. You don't NEED her faith. You already HAVE what you need - God and faith in yourself. Doctors are getting RICH from these weight loss surgeries. Even if your doctor wouldn't be doing the surgery herself, I'm pretty sure she probably gets a percentage of every one of her patients she refers to the specialists who do the surgery.
I have every faith in you, Liliann. You don't need to torture your poor body to be successful at losing weight. And, you don't have to give up the foods you love. Just learn to eat them in moderation. Be sure to read my Emotional Eating mental exercise I posted on 9/17. I KNOW it will help you. And, above all - be PATIENT. Slow and steady wins the race.
You can DO this, Liliann. I KNOW you can. If you have a bad food day, just get right back on track the next day.
Wishing you the very best, hon!
