It seems the more sugar I have the more I want. It's easier for me to have none than to moderate. I went a month without sugar once and I had no crying spells that month. I had energy and was able to work long hours w/out caffeine.
I have found a lot of help from eating a good breakfast with protein and I find I have less cravings for stuff like ice cream later in the day. Regular meals and snacks are very helpful.
I do keep a food journal and see how my choices to have ice cream/sweets one day usually leads to similar choices the following day.
I also see a tendency to want sweets when I am avoiding uncomfortable feelings (to stuff them).
Anyone else have any suggestions to naturally reduce the cravings for sugar?

Hi - I would suggest two things...cut out sugar-substitutes like saccharine and equal because they reinforce the craving even though technically you are not eating sugar. Also, think of sugar in the broader sense: processed foods that basically burn quickly like sugar. One big thing is bread or anything that has "enriched flour". That digests just like sugar and will reinforce the cravings.

I am also having trouble. The body ecology diet works for me when I follow the principles. I think I have to stick to protein for awhile until I can beat this.

Sugar is definitely addictive and has many negative effects on the body! I'm the same way. I love my sweets but it's definitely easier when I just don't eat them.

Try replacing your sugar with dates, stevia, and even honey.. MUCH better for you! If I am having a "sweet craving" I eat some fruit.. works every time! Good luck!

yeah youve gotta find a way to replace the sugar. i found that once i cut out dairy, and switched to soy products, i craved less sugar. u will always want sugar in some form though. there are healthy sweet options like halva and tahini...ever had those? they are good as theyre filling like soy is. or sugar thats in fruit...if u snack on things like dried apricots and almonds, u will find yr not as hungry. and drink pulpy fruit juice.

I use Splenda. That does not seem to inspire sugar craving in me. Now that I am becoming completely lactose intolerant, that includes ice cream and not some cheese that cuts out lots of sugars and fats naturally. I don't want to be sick! I can/t tolerate chocolate anymore either. This is good! Because if it makes me sick You naturally develop an aversion to it over time. And that is good! I have seen where many people eat right through their allergies and aversions and I don't know how they do it. I believe eventually they will get sick of feeling sick all of the time! And my vitamins and exercise seem to be increasing my energy! also cooler weather is helpful, duh.

I recently tried flaxseed oil for two months straight. I was shocked to find out how it put an end to my sweet tooth. I was getting pretty worried about why I couldn't stop eating sweets once I started. In the past I could eat 1 or 2 candy bars and be satisfied. Not now. I buy a big bag of chocolates and have to eat half the bag. So worried about my weight gain. Now that has all stopped! I think when our body is in short supply of a nutrient our cravings try to figure out what might fix it. Well it certainly isn't sugar! Try flaxseed oil.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
