Hi,

I started having feet issues a couple month ago. I have two main questions so I will create two separate posts.

Pain started with little toe pain and I also noticed my feet burned, or felt very sore from the inside. I went to a podiatrist thinking maybe it was a bunion but he said it was not. He ended up fitting me for new orthotics. My feet are quite flat and these orthotics have a high arch. They have not been comfortable and it feels like I am walking on wooden blocks. He adjusted them last week to lessen the arch a bit. However, it took me two weekends to realize that these orthotics are making my pain worse since after wearing the shoes for hours, my feet are really burning again. So I am pretty sure it's the orthotics.

Anyone else find this? I am giving up on them which I'm quite furious about since I paid over $400 for them.

You need to get you foot used to orthotics. Start with fifteen minutes and increase fifteen minutes ore day. If they still hurt you demand new ones or an adjustment. May I suggest going to an orthopedist rather than a podiatrist. Get an Ortho that specializes in the foot.

As to your other post. New Balance is a great shoe for people with foot problems. Go to a store where they specialize in fitting. There are ways of lacing your shoes to help various issues. Try to go to a locally owned store

Thanks. I actually have been wearing the orthotics for little bits at a time, but then do find when I wear them for longer, that the burning starts. SO frustrated that the orthotics seem to make things worse and I am no better off than I was months ago when this all started.

I am going to try on New Balance width E tomorrow night, but honestly I've had no luck there, so am not counting on this working (tried on same shoe in width D).

Any advice is great. DH gets so irritated at me cause he doesn't understand the pain (and he's not always the most sympathetic) so he gets mad at me running from one place to another trying to find shoes and thinks I'm being silly.

I just found this support group. I have not been diagnosed with neuropathy but my mother had it and I am starting to feel that I do to. I am also having a lot of trouble with my feet. I have had a lot of different orthotics and find that the orthotics that I can get at WalMart do better for me. I was using the ones that you get on the machine and it tells you which one to buy. The worked well but I have a bone under each ball of each foot that is killing me and find that I need the ones with the most cushioning . I have found that the only shoes that I can stand in all day at work are Sketcher Go Walks but I still have to have the orthotic in them. I do ok so far with them. But I can't wear hard orthotics. My big toe is numb but sometimes also hurts. Sometimes if I rub it, it feels like a wave of electricity runs through it. I also was low on B12. I took shots for about 6 months and it came up but the toe is still numb. Does this sound like neuropathy?
