I have not been diagnosed with neuropathy but I'm afraid that I have it. I am not diabetic. But I know there are other reasons to have it. I have mentioned it to my doctor but he always just sort of ignores me and says "Neuropathy is a nerve problem" Duh!! I know that. I have read a lot about it and my Mother had it. She was diabetic. I was wondering . Do any of you take anything non prescription for your neuropathy.? I'd like to try something to see if it would help my symptoms,. I'm having a lot of trouble with my feet. Numb toes, electrical shock feeling in my ankles and burning and pins and needles.
Oh and by the way a friend of mine said her son was very sick with neuropathy. She said that he had it in his intestines. That's something that I Haven't heard about and it was very scary. Have any of you heard of this? Both of her children (adult children) are diabetic and both have neuropathy.

You could try capsaicin ointment for the neuropathy, it is supposed to desensitize the nerves at least if their is pain and the lightening strikes. You have to be careful in applying it, that you don't rub your eyes etc... really not much that will help the numbness, unless there is a cause that can be reversed. I have had neuropathy for 30 years, been to a couple of Neurologists, usually a waste of time, as there is no cure, and medications are pretty worthless.
Neuropathy that effects the gut is called Central Neuropathy as oppsed to perephreal, it is sometimes caused by chemothreapy, or any trama to those nerves.
