The bottom of both of my feet burn all the time. It's better than when my neuropathy started, when it felt like I was walking on pins & needles and didn't dare go barefoot because I really couldn't feel the floor. If you aren't taking medication yet, Cymbalta & Neurotin (both of them generic) have worked better than anything else. Good luck and I hope that things get better.

I use Lyrica, cymbalta, and alpha lipoic acid. I find sitting with my calves under a a back massager helps. You also might find a cream with magnesium in helps. I

I am suffering with all of the above issues which are steadily getting worse. A year ago, my Dr, prescribed Gabapentin 100 MG. Numb, tingling, and pain in my feet. Steadily progressing to my legs. My Neurolgist ran many tests to check for toxins. All were normal. I haven't being diagnosed with Diabetes, although my blood glucose levels are a bit elevated. The Neurontin does help. On occasion, I take a pain pill, mainly Aleve or IB, especially at bed time. I am mainly concerned with the fact that it is very uncomfortable to wear shoes and my jeans or anything else on my legs really sets off my leg pain and it is then hard to get it back into control.. Does the alpha lipoic acid work for you? My primary care physician suggested I use that.

Numb, tingling, stabbing shocks, from fett on up R leg up to mid thigh, left up to mid calf. Caused by spine damage for me. Nueropathy can be caused by quite a few diseases. Nerve conduction test a great starter test, but if your not tingling at the time of the exam it may show negative depending on your cause. Goid luck on the journey to your cause.

I have suffered the numb, tingling, sharp stabbing pains in toes and burning pain, which for me is the worse. I have tried Lyrica and it took away all feeling, which was scary driving a car, I couldn't feel my foot on brake pedal. I am diagnosed idiopathic peripheral neuropathy. I was on neurontin which did work for me, but caused my feet to swell. I am currently on 1/2 of a 5mg flexeril. Since I am highly sensitive to some medications, the dosage works on the burning and stabbing pains. I am constantly living with numbness and tingling up to my knees. I have tried putting my feet in cold water to help burning pain, but sometimes that is not practical. It does work for the moment. When the burning pain does break through or flare up, I use Capzacin ointment on my feet and it helps me a lot. I think my damage came from being on statins for high cholesterol.

I have had Neuropathy for 2 years. I live in a senior building and started a support group. There are 10 members and we all have different pains etc. I have learned to accept the cold legs and feeling my pain, but what really worries me is the weakness I have in my legs. Does anyone have that?

What helps me if the burning gets too painful is Lidocaine 5% ointment.

This is how it all started with me. I hope for you that this is something simple to treat and does not develop into something further. I remember the burning feet pain...it went up my body from there into several neuro issues. :( I truly hope this is not the case for you.

Do you know about Erythromyalgia? For years I heard the discription of PN, burning sensation on bottom of feet, then I realized my burning pain actually gives off heat and cold would help it, this is erythromyalgia. It is sometimes coupled with freezing feet called Raynaud's phenomenon.
